Product Information
| Product Name | Erythromycin-N-Demethylase (ERND) Activity Assay Kit (Micro Method) |
| Specifications & Purity | BioReagent |
Product Description
Cytochrome P450 enzymes are a group of enzymes primarily located in the liver and play an important role in the metabolism of xenobiotics, particularly drugs and toxins. ERND (erythromycin N-demethylase) corresponds to the CYP2B isoform within the P450 enzyme system and is closely associated with demethylation in drug metabolism. CYP2B can catalyze the formation of inactive, readily excretable metabolites, thereby contributing to detoxification, but it can also activate certain drugs through metabolism.
Determination Principle: ERND catalyzes the release of formaldehyde from erythromycin. The formaldehyde content is determined using the Nash colorimetric method, allowing the calculation of ERND activity.
