RASEF belongs to the Rab family of small GTPases, which function as molecular switches cycling between GDP-bound (inactive) and GTP-bound (active) states. RASEF is predicted to be involved in regulating membrane traffic and vesicle-mediated transport. Its ability to interact with dynein and dynactin components suggests a specific role in microtubule-based transport processes.
