Clathrin interactor 1 [CLINT1] (also called enthoprotin/EpsinR) is an Epsin N-terminal homology (ENTH) domain-containing adaptor protein that functions in anterograde and retrograde clathrin-mediated trafficking between the trans-Golgi network and the endosome. CLINT1 binds to membranes enriched in phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PtdIns(4,5)P2). CLINT1 may have a role in transport via clathrin-coated vesicles from the trans-Golgi network to endosomes. The CLINT1 protein binds to the terminal domain of the clathrin heavy chain and stimulates clathrin cage vesicle assembly.
