Immunofluorescence staining of Estrogen Related Receptor alpha in MCF7 cells. Cells were fixed with 4% PFA, permeabilzed with 0.3% Triton X-100 in PBS,blocked with 10% serum, and incubated with rabbit anti-Human Estrogen Related Receptor alpha polyclonal antibody (dilution ratio 1:200) at 4℃ overnight. Then cells were stained with the Alexa Fluor®488-conjugated Goat Anti-rabbit IgG secondary antibody (green). Positive staining was localized to Nucleus and Cytoplasm.

The orphan nuclear receptor ESRRA (estrogen-related receptor alpha) is a key regulator of energy homeostasis and mitochondrial function. ESRRA as a critical activator of autophagy via both transcriptional and post-translational control to promote antimicrobial host responses. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are common and severe eating disorders (EDs), and the ESRRA mutations result in decreased ESRRA activity increase the risk of developing EDs.
