Synonyms: Annexin A1 is a member of the Ca2+dependent phospholipid binding protein family with a molecular weight of 35-40 kDa. It is strongly expressed in the membrane of tumor cells and occasionally in the cytoplasm of tumor cells in 97% of hairy cell leukemia. Recent studies have shown that Annexin A1 has strong specificity and sensitivity for immunohistochemical staining of hair-cell leukemia. Therefore the antibody is commonly used in the differential diagnosis of hair-cell leukemia from other B-cell lymphomas (Annexin A1-).
