Image / Experimental Information

Image 1 DescriptionImmunofluorescence staining of CAMK4 in HeLa cells. Cells were fixed with 4% PFA, permeabilzed with 0.3% Triton X-100 in PBS,blocked with 10% serum, and incubated with rabbit anti-human CAMK4 polyclonal antibody (1:1000) at 4℃ overnight. Then cells were stained with the Alexa Fluor®594-conjugated Goat Anti-rabbit IgG secondary antibody (red)Positive staining was localized to cytoplasm and nucleus.

Background Information

Full Namecalcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase IV
DescriptionCa / calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 4 (CAMKⅣ) belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase family, and to the Ca /calmodulin-dependent protein kinase subfamily which is widely recognized as an essential enzyme implicated in the phophoinositide amplification cascade. Ca /calmodulin dependent protein kinase (CAMK) can be activated by the introcellular increased Ca and then apt to combine with the target protein. Ca / calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 4 (CAMKⅣ) is a multifunctional CaM-dependent kinase protein with limited tissue distribution, that has been implicated in transcriptional regulation in lymphocytes, neurons and male germ cells. All of the isforms of this family, including myosin light chain kinase, phosphorylase kinase, CaMK1, CaMKⅢ and CaMKⅣ have EF-hand structure.
