Synonyms: The protein encoded by C-erbB-2 gene is a transmembrane protein with molecular weight of 185 kDa, which is a member of the large family of cell surface growth factor receptors and can inhibit tyrosine kinase activity. Overexpression of this gene is closely related to the differentiation and grade of breast cancer. C-erbB-2 is mainly used as a reference index to judge the prognosis of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer and gastrointestinal tumors.
